GDD 110 final maze

                 I always wanted my maze to have a game like feel to it. I wanted it to play out as a level in an actual game. This could not really get done with a few rendered shots, so I took about 20. I transferred them into Photoshop and then took each still image and cross-faded them into the next. There were three, pretty much, main sections in the maze. There was the ambush of the assassins or weaker level enemies.  Then there is the, if the player chooses to walk through fire, there is a very strong enemy. Dr. Cloutier is gathering research and disturbing him will result in a fight that no one playing frost wants.  The final, true ending of the maze is killer bee. Once bee sees frost he blast fire at him, and frost, to protect himself, he forms ice crystals as a barrier. After that he sends the ice crystals back at bee, thus ending the maze.

title screen updated



I wanted to show some type of fighting animation for my title screen. Killer Bee's fire vs Frost's ice seemed like a good way to showcase this. As there 2 powers collide there is a shining explosion and then the game's title screen will open up. i still might revisit this more for the final project, just to add more to it. Might find a way to add more characters or props into it as well.

GDD110 maze rendering week 12




i continued to make my maze as if it was a level in an actual game. the maze is mostly dark to hide the dangers of what Frost will face if he takes a wrong turn. basically stay into the light and you should be good kind of thing.The three main parts of the maze are the start, end, and little Easter egg that i put into it. the first close up pick is the end. i choose this view because it's like the person looking in is Killer Bee himself waiting for frost to get tot the end. the nest picture shows the start of the maze. this is just before frost pops out into the playing field. his ice crystal is puncturing a hole through the wall and its snowing in the halls because Frost is gathering a lot of energy. since Frost has the power of ice, he basically controls the temperatures of the outside world. the next and final picture is the Easter egg. it turns out that the old Temple that the heroes used to use is now being used by the devious Dr. Cloutier. if one makes the wrong turn in my maze, they won't be fighting against their old friend, but fighting for their lives against the lightning and biotic powers of Dr. Cloutier.

week 11 maze research phase








              The 3 concept arts all bring something new and creative to my maze. the first image just shows how frost will have to be challenged physically and mentally as the malevolent Dr Cloutier toys with his mind and sends hoards of enemies to fight and possibly wound Frost. the other two images show a possible ending of a huge character fighting Frost. it could still be Killer Bee, but since frost is in a demented state he could see him as something much worse, might have to create a bigger, badder character.

w10 maze project


gotta thank vinny and professor E. i hope i get faster with this because it took quite some time to finish this up. i went with my original idea of the maze's setting be in an old temple that also used to be the protectors base. if this was in a game, i would have enemies all around the maze and have killer Bee at the end for a boss fight. i also added in a futuristic looking room i the bottom right, this would most likely serve as an easter egg room. no matter how much time i took, it's still fun to do, can't wait to see what's next.

maze rendered concept





i was lost at first but thanks to Vinny and Professor E, i managed to get everything done. My walls are the blue and yellow while my floors follow a gold style. the ending of the maze still has the flames at the end, since Killer Bee will still be waiting for you at the end. i also might want to think of adding grime or dust to show that the setting is in a ruined temple or the old heroes base.

week 10 maze concept


     I have to thank Mike for helping me out with this one. It was fairly easy, i followed the same theme that i always did with everything somehow linking back to my game concept Legendary. i wanted the maze to have an old cathedral/temple feel. i gave it a story of the person going through the maze as Frost looking for Bee, in the end you see a long hallway with bee waiting for you in the darkness. For my image I choose to make the ending of the maze rather then the rest of it's parts. the walls, floors and ceiling will probally stay the same though.

GDD 110 mazes

the mazes was a lot of fun to make, i tried to make the first one as basic as i possibly could. the ones after were better and harder. medium is tricky and hard i thought was pretty tricky as well. However my roommates LOVE mazes and they got a little caught up at first and then just blew my maze away. Still fun as always and i have to go to class.

I wanted to keep the same futuristic style with everything that i do. so i just typed in futuristic walls and i liked them. kind of kept the dark steel look as well. i plan on using either all 3 or at least one of these pics to crate the maze.

I had to give up on my first building concept. however as long as I got a skyscraper i think i can be proud of the work. Had to thank professor Nersesian for helping me filling in all the different sections.I added in the main logo to help keep my work flowing, sort of like it's all connected. as always a lot of fun.

larger prop research phase






since i plan on my game being set in the future, i looked at a lot of buildings, temples, and all sorts of futuristic things. i found that a lot of these buildings follow a curved pattern. i really like the idea of a curved tall structure with a very defined base. it may be a lot of work but i want to recreate the first image but use one of the other ones to make a strong base for the tall structure. looking forward to it.

GDD Final Logo concept


I mainly looked at my concept drawings to aid me in making the final draft of my Logo. The main ones i used were 1, 3, and 10. In the end my first item was the staff that's kind of hanging out in the back. this is shadow's staff and it is passed down from him to frost. the main piece of the logo comes from the 7 point star that i changed to form a sort of badge. this badge is given to those who use their power to protect the weak instead of taking advantage of them. My title words were split in half, LEGE follow a ice font and the DARY follow a flame font , while the N is kind of watery, like the ice is getting melted by the fire.

wk 06 logo thumbnails



my favorites are 1,4,10. I planned on keeping a few things the same with most of the thumbnails. frost's ice and cool colors on one side of the Legendary while the fire and fire red on the other side. the staff that shadow primarily will use was also used several times and the protectors badge is also used several times. Looking forward to doing this digital and incorporate multiple thumbnails in the process.

W06 Title screen



Kind of a struggle to make this, was late to class because i couldn't find out how to upload this from  my computer at home, but it's finally here. i combined my ideas of Mass Effect and God of War to build this up. the first part is a start screen, this screen will just show some of the characters in the game. then after pressing start, the player will have the usual options of a 1 player story based game. I put a cut off Frost in the corner and kind of added in a Elder Scrolls 5 skyrim smoke effect. i hope to remake this in the future to take my time with it more and have a better grasp of photoshop, but as always had a lot of fun doing it

W05 Title screen


I decided to put frost in the middle because the player becoming frost and growing relationships with the people around them throughout the story is the emphasis of the game. I imagined a God of war style opening with the camera spinning and frost fighting Bee as the opening cut scene. after this Frost will go into a flashback and the player will start the game. to give it an authentic feel I chose to put in the EA and Bioware logos, just because my game is basically a cross between Mass Effect, batman arkham city, and infamous, but mostly Mass effect. Finally, ironically i got inspired by the name from a show called How I Met your Mother.

In a world of super heroes and super villains, it''s up to Frost to become the strongest of them all to be LEGEN-wait for  it-DARY

I plan on my game being primarily based on the story. after the player presses start he will see the options, of continue, new game, load game, settings, and extras. The title screen will either show frost in front of either the city, or the temple of heroes. if the player selects new game, i would like to dive straight into the story with an opening cinematic. this style is taken from the God of War franchise. i am a big fan of the god of war franchise and i always enjoy how part of the story is foreshadowed in a way through the title screen

New details


I did some remodeling to some of the characters so that they fit more of a color scheme. The heroes have chill blue colors, while the villains have fire red and poison purple colors. I'm still making more characters and hope to get a pretty decent number, similar to mass effect 2's ensemble of crew mates. I did some more research as i finally know how my gameplay mechanics will work. the player will be able to fight multiple enemies at once in hand to hand combat, similar to Batman Arkham City and then hold a button to bring up not only his/her power menu but also their companions. once this power menu is opened the player can select and use devastating super powers to crush their foes.  also similar, to Arkhal City, the game will be set in an open world style. you can free roam, find enemies to defeat and keep the city safe.

This also was very simple. for the most part, different shades of blue is used to make the map. This is used by the developers to make Batman blend in more with his environment. Also the colors show that the enemies stand out more than batman. the green and brown is used in contrast to the mostly blue landscape, and the bright yellow pops out a lot in order for the player to hit the counter button in time to deal severe damage to the enemy.

Choosing mass effect was an easy choice, once agin this is my favorite gaming trilogy of all time and I have taken many story elements from this trilogy. the main colors i used all represented key elements of the story of the game. The bright orange-red in the middle signifies the reaper harvest and the many stars in the galaxy. the red signifies shepherd's signature red and black armor. the blue signifies the eyes of the indoctrinated, sovereign and also the vast space in the galaxy. the silver symbolizes the logo, so that was a given. finally, the pink symbolizes the girl who always has your back, ashley and her signature armor.

The futuristic city in the top-left was very easy. the red is used as a sort of highlight. the orange is used beautifully to show the fading sunset. As the sunlight shines over the city, the city takes an orange depiction. the destroyed city is also easy because the picture looks to have a monochrome effect. the black and white can be symbolic of death and grief. the night life picture was a lot of fun. the neon green is highlighted in the middle with the red spheres help give it a tokyo theme.

Story and Gameplay

The story will make you meet several new characters and force you to make key decisions that will have drastic repercussions. In a tree-branching like story line your experience will be different from several others who also play the game. also similar to batman arkham city, I will have an advanced combat system with combos, counters and critical hits. also as you level up you will gain new powers and new abilities. The player will also choose if they want to make their frost, a brawler with superman strength, a martial artist with fast combos, or a frost in which you can use his ice abilities to crush foes as you see fit.

Characters

The main protagonist is Frost. You will frequently socially interact with several other super powered humans and even some regulars. There are multiple things that will threaten your beloved city and it is going to take a silver tongue and advanced skills to save the city and keep the lives of your friends as well. The player will start out as Frost when he is just a little sidekick. Along with his best friend Bee, they both are trained by the very skilled Shadow. However as Bee gets persuaded by the powerful super villain Dr. Cloutier he turns to a life of crime. As frost you will have to build relationships with fellow superheroes, earning their trust and respect to save your best friend Bee and your city from the evil Dr. Cloutier.

Location

The city of Leviathan is both incredibly huge and sprawling with life. The player, while taking the mantle as frost will be able to fully impact the city as well. Besides playing through missions, both story and main, the player will be able to participate in real-time activities around the city. In a city where there are super heroes and super villains anything is possible. The image to the left and on the bottom, show the semi-futuristic style that I would want my city to have, I also took some inspiration from the mass effect series with the picture to the right. In mass effect, the main protagonist Shepard is constantly shown images of what will happen if he fails. Frost, my main character will be shown what will happen if he fails to save his city.

story: in a world  filled with both super powered villains and heroes, your greatest friend can become your greatest adversary. players assume the mantle as frost and attempt to save his/her bestfriend Bee who has become the powerful  super villain Killer Bee. Will you save the city of Leviathan and stop Killer Bee or let it burn to save your best friend?
main character: Frost- the player will make all choices as they become Frost.
